But this phony dance of midwestern reasonableness needs to stop or even if he wins the presidency, We The People will lose the right to express the anger we feel about women being stomped on in Alabama, the anger we feel about women being stomped on in Georgia, the anger we feel about voter suppression, the anger we feel about mass shootings, the anger we feel about Donald Trump collaborating with a hostile foreign power, the anger we feel about Bill Barr perjuring himself to misrepresent the findings in The Mueller Report, the anger we feel about Feckless Nancy, the mute Speaker of the House.
The President has no clothes.

My answer:
Last elections, Hillary Clinton was criticized in stereo. From the left, Sanders said she was too much of a right-wing elitist war-hawk. From the right, Trump said she was too much of a left-wing social justice warrior.
Her campaign-team then had no answer to make Hillary look left-wing enough to please the Sanders-crowd, and right-wing enough to please the moderate Republicans. And she lost.
Now, Fox News has not created a new stereo-installation, but a 20-part Democratic sound-system. In that way, all good, but not exceptional Democratic candidates can fight each other. All of them will make so much noise (facilitated by Fox) that nobody will see the difference between them anymore. Then, after being smeared enough by the 19 other candidates, the nominee is damaged too much to be a danger for Trump’s reelection.
Summarized: Fox knows that it is easier for Trump to fight 20 dwarves, instead of one giant.
